The Wrestling Thread

Post by Hyperboreal » Sun Apr 16, 2017 5:52 pm

This thread is devoted to the closest thing to real life anime that exists: professional wrestling. The only sport where adultery, attempted murder, theft, racism and familial drama can be solved by tearing your clothes off and grappling with other men.

Opening Thoughts: James Ellsworth is the most cancerous thing in the WWE since Hornswoggle. Discuss.

Ehh, least he's shuffled off to Carmella and stayed off the main event scene. Unless he starts to be part of The New Day or something, then you may have a point.

If I were a booker for the WWE, and wanted to submit an episode script as an April Fool's prank, it would look very similar to what actually happened on Smackdown last night. Jinder Mahal, who just a couple years ago was released after being part of Heath Slater's jobber stable, is now the #1 contender for the WWE Championship AND the Shining Stars (or are they the Colons now?) won clean over American Alpha. This show is quickly turning into a somewhat more competent WCW Thunder.

I'll see where this may go. The Smackdown writers have been usually turned bad acts into good, or this is the beginning of Vince turning SD into the B show again because nothing cannot outdraw more than his precious Raw. And slightly more competent Thunder? You sure you are not referring to Impact?

Saw Smackdown this week. How is Charlotte the heel? The entire women's locker room basically ganged up on her to ruin her title match.

Oh, also Breezango is getting a push.

Meanwhile on Raw, Kalisto got thrown into a dumpster like the trash he is

Strowman right now is the only good thing about RAW right now. He has been on fire these past few weeks. Sad that he's getting fed to Reigns for his fourth failed push at the main event or Lesnar. Missed Payback but heard he won his match against Reigns. Yay!

Also am not looking forward to the crapfest that is the House of Horrors match.

Non-WWE related and a bit late, if you didn't know, Katsuyouri Shibata from NJPW has the best match of his life with the IWGP Heavyweight Champion Kazuchika Okada, when he delivered a few headbutts to Okada's head that, with extreme dehydration, has now left him with a subdural hematoma, numbness in his right side, and brain surgery. Experts are saying that he will never get cleared to wrestle. Shame since he was a very good wrestler and it looked like his year to really be on top.

I will hear no ill words towards the House of Horrors match, which is the greatest camp masterpiece in wrestling since the White Castle of Fear.

Don't know why they put the US belt back on Jericho, though considering his Fozzy tour starts in less than a week. Are they just going to pull a "Zack Ryder at Wrestlemania 32" and immediately put the belt back on Owens or will they just not have the champion appear on TV? Worked for Brock Lesnar.

That moment where he flipped over that ambulance was pretty damn awesome.

Yeah, I think they might do a rematch on SD where the stip is that the loser leaves WWE. Gives a reason for Jericho to be off TV. And they need to set up something to keep the title on TV since Styles is fighting for it at Backlash. Wish he could stay a little longer to do a match with Nakamura.

That entire segment was great, from the numerous attacks, to the "I"M NOT FINISHED WITH YOU!" to the ambulance flip. Strowman is a treasure on RAW

Well that Backlash PPV was underwelming. Nakamura performed a boring match and Jinder is world champion. The hell?
